ALICE S. HUFNAGLE, CGFM-Retired CPA-Retired CFE-Retired

Since joining AGA in 1999, Alice has served in various leadership positions in the Northern Virginia Chapter and as 2023-2024 San Antonio Chapter President.  For the last two years, she served as AGA San Antonio’s Webmaster and Achievements in Chapter Excellence (ACE) Awards Reporting Chair.  After a move back to Northern Virginia, she has turned the Webmaster and ACE Reporting Chair reins over to Past President Mary Lou Saldivar for 2026-2027, but continues as Assistant Webmaster and Assistant ACE Reporting Chair.

Retired in 2015 as a government auditor, she continues to champion for fair and transparent government financial management.  Her 30-year government service includes four years of Active Duty Army service in the Signal Corps, attaining the rank of Captain as an Assistant Division Inspector General; followed by over a quarter century of experience as an internal auditor at Fort Knox, an auditor and systems analyst for the US Marine Corps and an accountant for the Defense Finance and Accounting Service.  Her career culminated as Program Director for Army Installation Management Audits, followed by Program Director for Army Medical Audits with the US Army Audit Agency.  Her defense career has taken her to Germany, Italy, Korea, Japan, and Panama, as well as throughout the continental United States.

Alice graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BS in Accounting from Rider University and earned her MSBA from Boston University.  She also completed Army Management Staff College’s Sustaining Base Leadership & Management Program and the Federal Executive Institute’s Leadership for a Democratic Society.

She is a retired Certified Public Accountant in Texas, a retired Certified Fraud Examiner, and a retired Certified Government Financial Manager, and has received numerous Army and Civil Service awards.

Alice has always been actively involved in giving something back to the communities in which she has lived, therefore is an enthusiastic volunteer in several community organizations.  Besides AGA (formerly the Association of Government Accountants), she has been active with the Institute of Internal Auditors and the American Society of Military Comptrollers (now the Society of Defense Financial Management), where she has been nationally recognized with community service, communications, and leadership awards.
