The session will address critical cybersecurity principles for protecting organizational networks and sensitive information. The presentation will also cover password security fundamentals, including proper encryption, hashing techniques, and credential storage protocols. A significant portion will focus on social engineering threats, which exploit human psychology to compromise security. We will review nine common attack vectors, including phishing, spear phishing, whaling, smishing, vishing, scareware, impersonation, baiting, and watering hole attacks. Understanding these threats is essential for maintaining robust organizational security postures.
The principles discussed align with DoD standards and industry best practices for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems.
